Who Am I?

My proficiency as a writer in the realms of finance and investing is attributable to not only talent and enthusiasm but also to the 20 years spent working as a principal on behalf of registered investment advisers, broker-dealers, mortgage brokerages and real estate companies. My familiarity with precious metals as an investable asset class dates back to my years working in portfolio management.

As for my fluency in the languages of the securities and asset management industries, that remains exceptionally high. I’ve written on a wide range of topics relevant to both the investing public and industry professionals, from the most basic concepts of household finance and money management to trading strategies, foreign market investing, geopolitical influences, compliance issues, behavioral finance and, of course, alternative assets such as precious metals.

Now a resident of North Georgia, I was born and raised in the Greater Boston area. Following military service, I attended Stetson University, graduating with a BA degree. I went on to graduate with honors from American Military University, earning an MA in Military Studies with a concentration in irregular warfare. The demanding curriculum was taught by some of the most respected minds in the field, including the General Colin Powell Chair of Military and Strategic Studies at the U.S. Army War College. Moreover, the program has proved to be an outstanding guidepost in my ongoing study of geopolitical risk, which tends to be a reliable - and, at times, powerful - driver of precious metals prices and activity.
